When we are able to have a rare overnight stay in the Gloucester area, we always eat at Lagrasso's. We have always enjoyed whatever meal we have tried. The service is great and my wife and I have always enjoyed the leisurely pace as our life is quite hectic. In fact we hope to eat there tomorrow night. Posted by: Karen & John Tsoukalas at October 14, 2010 04:25 PMWe found this place last summer & LOVE it. The food is great & the service is spectacular. The food is fresh & delicious & they will fulfill any requests. It is a husband & wife team; he cooks, she serves & bakes. We have taken our daughters there (ages 3 & 5) many times & they love it as well. Posted by: Gina at June 21, 2010 01:23 PMLograsso's is consistently good. We go there weekends through the year and it is a gem. While unlike many of the Rockport restaurants that feature great views but less than consistent food quality, Lograsso's offers a candle-lit, warm setting, warm service, and excellent quality and value servings across the appetite pallet. The base menu is Italian but pretty eclectic and the regular selection of specials is usually irristable. We keep going back and recommend it for those in the know. I have lived locally for eight months now and me and my boyfriend have dined at Lograsso's a few times. Each time we did we were amazed at the high quality delicious entrees and desserts served. Whenever we are dining out LoGrasso's is at the top of our list for choices! Yum! Posted by: Susan at May 23, 2009 09:05 AM JJv, I am fully aware of what picatta is (or should be)and it is not meant to be so overly drenched with lemon juice that it is inedible. No one at our table could eat more than a small bite of it without puckering up and having to drink vast quantities of water. Uggh! In addition, I didn't even mention the terrible duck the other two people in our party had. Have you ever had duck with such rubbery, flabby skin it had to be removed before anything could be eaten? Not good. Not good at all. Posted by: ekb at February 21, 2009 09:36 AMThis is a comment refering to ekb's post. I am a huge fan of Lograssos...have been eating there at least once a week for about 6 years now. I can honestly say I have never had any "seriously bad food there" When you say bad are you refering to rotten or expired? Or was the food just not to your liking? To me there is a huge difference! I personally love the Veal Piccatta. Its one of my favorites. I love that the dish is exceptionally lemony (that is what picatta is)It is a given that everyone has different taste buds and thats okay but I do not believe that you should insult a restaurant because you personally did not care for your food. I do know that Lograsso's is a small family owned restaurant and the owners are very understanding and quick to fix any problem a customer may have. I have got to wonder if the owners were even informed that the food was not to your liking???? One night i did not particually care for the dish I ordered...I let them know and not only did i get a new dish in a flash but i also got coffee and dessert at NO charge. Dont worry Lograssos...Great atmosphere and Great Food! Posted by: JJv at February 5, 2009 09:27 AMHad some seriously bad food there tonight. The veal piccata was so bitter and overly lemoned, I couldn't eat more than a few bites. The sour flavor seeped into the rice pilaf below, rendering that inedible as well. Horrible! The hubby had the eggplant and meatball lasagna which was just ok, nothing special. The crabcake appetizer was good, but the serving size was skimpy. My friend ate there recently on a weeknight and RAVED about the food. Go figure! Posted by: ekb at January 23, 2009 10:56 PM LOGRASSO'S HAS BEEN IN BUSINESS FOR 20 YEARS AND MOST CERTAINLY CATERS TO THE LOCALSAND ALWAYS HAS. Posted by: L at May 12, 2008 03:07 PMRockport most certainly has a dearth of positive dining experiences. However, LoGrasso's is one of the 2 places (Fish Shack is the other) that we hit when we are in town. Incredibly friendly and accomodating, the food is very good. I recommend staying with the tried and true Italian standards. Although there is experimentation on the menu, they are much less successful than the typical Italian dishes. The fact that it remains a BYOB is a major plus and a savings as well. If you are in Rockport and want to stay and eat in town, LoGrasso's is definately a plus to go and enjoy. We really love the whole experience and the personal care that each customer is given.
Good food-Good Service. No longer a part time restaurant and part time deli. Now, all restaurant. Still searching for their identity, but you can't go wrong there. BYOB!
