The most evil place on Cape Ann, SINFULLY DELICIOUS.It's addictive, scrumptious, generous portions, my scale goes into the back of the closet when I start hitting Helmuts every summer on my morning walks.
Absolutely addictive, I agree. The best early morning place on the Neck. Can't wait to get there again this year, 
Better and more addictive than crack...AND it's legal!
We stayed 2 blocks from Bearskin Neck at a B&B (Lantanna House*****) and did not visit Helmut's until the morning we left - at then we took an apple strudel with us home. We shared it that evening with friends - it was great! If your visiting for the day plan on coffee and strudel at Helmut's!
If you're out early with a camera grabbing shots of the harbor in the early dawn light, then this place is simply a gem. 6am and they have the best french roast coffee, and chocolate filled bakeries to die for. The girls serving were 110% friendly and enthusiastic, even at this early hour. Get there before the crowds!

Sitting on Helmut's porch early in the morning, with a piece of strudel (or 2) and their delicious coffee is very nearly heaven.

Good food, good service, and a nice, but unppretentious, environment.
My favorite place in Rockport, pick up a delicious coffee and danish and walk out to the end of Bearskin Neck. It's the best!!!!

This place is the best. When I was growing up we would go to Rockport for vacation and everyday began with a croissant from Helmut's. It is so nice sitting outside, looking at the water and enjoying breakfast. My Dad still loves to call me when they vacation there and rub it in that he is eating at Helmut's.

Excellent pastries---the almond filled are out of this world! Everything is very fresh with wonderful selections. Coffee and tea choices are excellent, too. Friendly, happy place to hang out or take out a snack to the end of the Neck.
One word......yum! Cheese strudel, need I say more? You can smell the aromas well before you enter the quaint building.
