Reviews!

I grew up in Essex (still live here) and went to Gloucester High School back in the early 70's. We always went to Destino's for cheesesteak with bbq sauce and LOVED it! Went back there this summer to relive that experience, and although the bbq sauce is not the same, the sub was still wonderful! A tiny bit less wonderful due to the different sauce, but wonderful all the same. The staff is friendly, the place was clean, and they still have the macaroni salad that I remember so fondly! Still yummy and if I lived in Gloucester I'd go there all the time. Am going to get a Christmas party catered through them as well!

I'm going to Destinos for a cheesesteak tmoro.11-26-10. I will post my review by 6pm. I'll be closely monitoring the meat quality, cleanliness and service.

I've eaten there many times over the years:
always good, fresh, fast and good prices...
Nice job ...

all the food at destinos is excellent, it seems like everyone has a favorite sub that is different from everyone else. they have great food and they are clean, if you have a problem with the help then maybe you should not hold a grudge and be friendly. all the employees seem to be interested into talking to customers, its the customers with the bad attitudes who they try to avoid talking to. if you have a problem about something, why not ask nicely for them to fix it instead of posting your problems on a computer.

I am very disappointed with Destinos. I will never go back. I could go on about my experience, but I won't, I will just say the owner is very rude! I have lived here all my life and I am telling everyone I see my story. Do not order any platters from them!

BEST CHEESE STEAK SUB IN THE WORLD!!!!!!!!!

Posted by: Nino at November 19, 2008 01:16 PM

WORST CHEESESTEAKS IVE EVER HAD, TONS OF FAT IN THEM. IF YOU WANT SOME REAL FOOD AND REAL SERVICE GO TO MIKES PLACE

Excellent cheese steak subs! I do wish they used fresh mushrooms though. I really like the fact that the food is consistently good. I guess since I always order the cheese steak, meatball sub, or eggplant parm the girls up front don't make them so the glove issue has not been a problem. Please Destino's, have your staff wear gloves! Money is filthy and restaurants should be on top of these issues at all times.

Terible. Need to work on cleanliness and Customer Service. Don't Go Here!

Posted by: Shawn C. at July 12, 2008 10:36 PM

as far as this whole gloves controversy goes...the owners of this place shouldn't worry about one uptight, sexually frustrated, OCD, germophobe that posts a bad review.

the subs are pretty good and the whole salad/soup thing is nice. not my favorite spot but its good for when you get bored of the regular spots and want to switch it up. the cheesesteaks are pretty good i must say.

Chicken Finger Cheese Steak... TO DIE FOR

Posted by: Mile21 at June 21, 2008 01:26 AM

destinos consistently delivers really good subs made with fresh ingredients...and the price is right...
i eat there often and never go wrong...
i will say one of the breakfast waitstaff is not so good...messed up my order...doesn't butter the toast thoroughly...yea, it's picky...but when you order pumpernickel and get half buttered wheat... well, what can i say. it impacts the experience.

Posted by: libby at March 14, 2008 04:22 PM

So basically you're trying to prevent others from exposing the restaurant, and only want those who write positive reviews to do so? If you wear gloves then that review shouldn't harm your business. If not, then either change your policy or live with whatever consequences of that are.

Posted by: dchen at December 29, 2007 09:26 AM

i think all of the people that said that we don't use gloves to make the subs and then handle money should go to hell. we make the subs with gloves on and then take them off to handle the money. You need to get your facts straight. And people that say that you NEVER say to hurry up and that we're rude and stuff, try working there. Its busy and your not the only customer that wants a freaking sud. GET OVER IT!!!anonymous

I went to Destinos today for the first time in over 15 yrs since leaving gloucester. I grew up here and constantly ate here. Alas, i only ordered one thing all the time (lg italian, mayo, no oil and extra hots). To coin a phrase, it is still wicked pissa and hands down the best sub shop on the north shore of mass.

Destino's is great. Nothing more, nothing less. Just great.

The food is great (I would recommend the Chicken Finger Cheesesteak), the service is pleasant enough, and the restaurant itself is roomy enough to enjoy your meal, even during busy lunch hours. The salad bar is a nice little added touch.

I haven't been there in a while (I only used to eat there when I worked up in Gloucester on the weekends - I've since left that job) but I'm sure very little has changed about the place.

I would recommend dining there as often as possible. If I lived in Gloucester, I would go no where else for lunch.

Enjoy.

The girls do wear gloves. They do not handle the money with gloves that they handle the food with either. They have a specific person to handle the money who does not touch the food. Please do not make assumptions and post things that are not true. Destino's also has a lot of new poeple working there which need time to adjust to the busy times and poeple and need to learn everything. Im sure that you have all gone somewhere where there is someone knew and I am sure that you were new where you worked before too and didnt know exactly what you were doing. If you don't liek the sandwhiches then dont get food from Destino's, but dont post comments stopping others from trying it becuase it is a great restaurant with great food.

i am new to gloucester and the day i walked into destinos and had the roast beef with bbq sauce i fell in love. keep up the good work!!!

I think that you are an awesome place, i work with food, and i still order from you guys! i love the salad wrap.. best ive ever had! I do agree alittle with the others, the girls dont do a great job, but who cares, i love the food and it gets me full! good job destino's

Posted by: kris at July 22, 2006 04:04 AM

Let me tell you one thing, Destino's is the best. Never go anywhere else...Breakfast, lunch, or dinner, it is the place to go!!

I do agree about the money, though.

Used to eat here all the time, ever since I was a teen. But over the last few years, watching the girls make subs after they handle dirty money just turned my stomache too much. I've heard this from several other long time customers who won't go there anymore either. They should consider hiring someone just to handle the money. Consumers are way more germ conscious than a decade ago. They've got to move with the times.

Slipping? I think it might be for take out. Eating in is still a great value. I have been eating here forever (since I was a kid and am now in my 30s). I used to love how they stuffed a sub with meat and toppings to overflow. They don't seem to do as well on take out value anymore, though. On a large order I made recently, when I asked for toppings on the side so the sandwiches don't get soggy they *charged extra*. They used to give toppings on the side without being asked. Also a tiny amount of cheese on a couple of cold veggies. I hate it when I place I grew up with changes in quality or value.

ANYONE WANT A LAWSUIT ONE QUALIFACTION YOU HAVE ALLERGIC TO BOLOGNA BECAUSE THERE CHOPPED HAM IS BOLOGNA VERY DISSAPOINTING AND MISLEADING MCDONALDS QUALITY AT A RESTRAUNT PRICE!

Although i've been going to Destino's ever since I can remember, I will stop going as often after tonight. I called in my order to make it easier for me and for them (also work at a food establishment and know how much easier it is for both) while takin a little longer to order than normal the woman on the phone told me to hurry up her phone was ringing off the hook. Now I dont really care how long a customer is taking you NEVER say something like that to them. I order my sub but was so angry i never picked it up. It's too bad because everything else is wonderful.

THE BEST!!!! No-one compares to Destinos. The best cheesesteak around. Go for happy hour! They are the best in the nation and I have been all across. I always return to Destinos!!!

We visited from Germany to see the beautiful places again which we got to know when I studied at Boston University 30 years ago. We stopped by at Destino's to eat some of those delicious subs. They are unbelievably tasty and we got free soup. The service was friendly and effective. What a beautiful place! So bad it's thousands of miles away.

when i went to destinos a couple a months ago, they didn't even use gloves when making there sandwiches...but than after they would handle money, than make another sandwich. The food is good but no the service.

Posted by: Sharon at March 6, 2005 10:28 PM

Destino's is a local staple. It's always fresh and clean. They have free salads when you dine in, and free soup for lunch. The menu is pretty basic but everything is good. I highly recommend it for a quick, good, cheap meal !!!
