I know Julie, and that is not her! She is always pleasant and professional and has been waitressing in Gloucester for many many years. If you only "believe" your waitresses name was Julie, you should check your facts before you name someone. We have had nothing but good meals here. The food is great, the waitstaff is always friendly, happy, and professional. Recommended without reserve. You will have a wonderful dining experience, lunch or dinner. Posted by: jo at February 3, 2009 03:42 PMI have eaten at Passports now about five times . . . Only (small) complaint: the house wine is not so good. Otherwise, a delicious Gloucester dining experience. Posted by: jo at January 14, 2009 07:59 PM Food is consistently good, more than ample portions, and while I don't care so much for the crowded tables, the service is good. A bit pricey for the lunch crowd, but overall I like it. Posted by: Anne at September 2, 2008 12:13 PM We love this restaurant. The popovers are awesome and the food was excellent. I had a Fried Goat Cheese salad with grilled chicken. It was the best salad I have ever had! passports is great. for gloucester, its a five star place. i agree that the food can be a little inconsistent, but it has generally been very good. the prices are good for the quality of ingredients. the service has always been pretty good and the popovers are great. imho, its prolly the second best restaurant in gloucester after the franklin. Posted by: g stacka at June 29, 2008 08:53 AMi've been eating at passports for years, and they've had their ups and downs. mostly ups, though. the best food ever .. love the popovers and the chicken cigar appitizers!!yummy.. i love the pasta with the sundried tomaoto and chipolte sauce delicious!! Posted by: the 4 at October 17, 2007 12:51 PMJust ate at Passports for the first time. A very pleasant surprise. It was just after 4 on a Sunday afternoon. We each chose their tilapia special, with choise of soup or salad. The fish, noodles under it, veggies mixed in, and a ginger-sesame sauce all came together brilliantly! The place has a light, airy, sort of European feeling. I thought the beet salad was fabulous. The shrimp and lobster that I ordered was overcooked but still tasted OK. Too many breadcrumbs sprinkled on the seafood, though. The lobster was VERY small. The bread that came with the meal was fabulous. The wait staff was great. I am from Seattle and this restaurant really gave me the feel of Cape Ann. You need to work on the cooking times for this lobster/shrimp dish. A great place to eat.... the food was excellent, great portions and our waitress Miranda was outstanding. She's the best we've had, ever!!! Posted by: escapeann at February 6, 2007 06:33 PMthis place just makes me happy in in gloucester... go there, get anything, you can't go wrong... this place just makes me happy in in gloucester... go there, get anything, you can't go wrong... Some people don't mind spending big bucks being well fed cattle with numbers on their ears. Others, from a more cultured background expect an occasional hello, thank you, or acknowledgement from the ownership, when you are dropping hundreds. Food is good... Posted by: billy at September 10, 2006 05:44 PMHAD DINNER FRIDAY NIGHT WITH A FRIEND-I HAD BAKED STUFF SHRIMP-FRIEND HAD SCALLOPS-THE FOOD WAS DELICIOUS-THE PRESENTATION WAS WONDERFUL-THE WAITRESS WAS VERY PROFESSIONAL AND FRIENDLY! THE POPOVERS WERE BEYOND GREAT~~~ WILL BE BACK VERY SOON! Posted by: Sereda at August 20, 2006 09:18 AM My wife and I live in Rockport and work in Gloucester. This is one of the restaurants we recommend to friends and people who ask for recommendations where we work. The menu is diverse and the food is very good. The servers are good but not excellent. However, most places we go in the area the servers are average. Went for lunch recently and the food was good, staff bordering on rude...my companion contemplated two choices in front of the wait person as if to ask which dish was better or if she had any suggestions and she snapped...how do I know what you want to eat. OK, waitperson here's a tip, you are not too good for your job. Posted by: f at May 26, 2006 06:46 PM
And, the pop overs are excellent. Posted by: bwon at December 28, 2005 10:54 AMAll was great when the first opened. I frequented the establishment at least twice a week. Servers never warmed up to us, regardless of the more than 20% tips. When you lay out hundred of dollars a month to eat in a restaurant, you expect a simple hello or thank you once in awhile. Final straw was when I went their with my usual girlfriend, in a severe snowstorm. They rudely told me to wait outside. Haven't been back since and never will. Posted by: vinnie at September 13, 2005 10:51 PM I spent some time looking online, trying to figure out a perfect place to go for dinner. Passports did not fall shy of my expectations. It is located on a main street among bustling shops. The atmosphere was cozy. The walls were painted a lively yellow. Each table was topped with a fresh-picked sunflower. The dinner's proportion was great for the price. It looked so good and fancy I almost didn't want to ruin it. Of course, however, the plate was finished before too long. Posted by: Laurie Lusas at December 16, 2004 08:10 AM Food was fabulous! Lackluster service. Posted by: LovingWDW at November 27, 2004 07:11 PM best restaurant on cape ann by far, food has a wonderful blend of complex and complimentory flavors. Service is slighty slower than would be expected but not enough to make an appreciable difference in the rating. Posted by: mike at November 5, 2004 10:48 AM Still one of the best anywhere. Service is excellent, food is creative and fresh, nice selection on the menu. Better than any of the other comparable ones downtown by a big margin. Posted by: Charlie P. at April 13, 2004 04:06 PMPassports is our favorite restaurant in Gloucester. It has a great atmosphere with a wonderful staff and where else can you get 1st class food at a reasonable price! New menu with excellent food, great prices and excellent staff!!!!
