just tried it for the first time. jim was kind of rude to my buddy, but then again my buddy is kind of an idiot so there ya go. i wanted to love this place since i lived down in NC for a while and miss authentic carolina/tennessee bbq. the food just wasn't great when i was there. got some ribs that were only mediocre and the sliced chicken wasn't anythign special either. i'll give it another try and if the food is better, i will come back here and show some love. Posted by: g stacka at June 29, 2008 08:58 AM Decent BBQ, though a bit on the expensive side for what you get. My "beef" with the place is Jim's never happy where I park! He gets gouchy about that. But then he never tells me where I'm supposed to park when I ask. How about a damn sign dude! Hence we just stopped going there. Posted by: BBQ Eater at June 6, 2008 01:51 PM I've been here a couple of times and some of the food is terrific... BBQ chicken, ribs and that unique cole slaw! However, I also had an AWFUL BBQ chicken sandwhich... why do they go back into the building and take out food that is lukewarm or cold and serve it to you instead of at least reheating it on the grill? I agree the prices are WAY too high. Posted by: Wendy at August 3, 2006 11:16 AM I agree with previous poster....prices are outrageous, but the bbq is decent. Posted by: j at August 22, 2005 10:05 AMJust like the people who think jalepeno's is authentic and reasonable, think this barbeque is good...It is tasty, but far from good. AND, the prices are outrageous. Are you that desparate for bar be que? simply the best Posted by: kyle at June 12, 2005 08:09 PMI have been to many great BBQ places. Redbones et. al. Before my wife and I married, 15 years ago, I took her from Nashua to Cape Ann. We stopped by Jim's outdoor rib-works by a miniature golf course. Was that Rockport? The day was cold and damp, maybe November of that year. We ordered a rack to go and promised we'd return. Took the box to the truck, we smelled the ribs and devoured same. We walked back over to Jim and told him we were back. He quipped: "I knew you'd be back, but no so soon!" Next we found him at Bearskin Neck in Rockport. Just as good. My family left New England toCalifornia. One of our cherished memories was that of "Smokin' Jim's Bar-B-Q". we have BBQ joints out here, but they are not just the same. Jim nailed the method and he stuck close to home. I wish he were here. WG Schultz Posted by: WG Schultz at August 19, 2004 06:25 PMSmokin Jim's is smokin! The food is fantastic and real BBQ from the south. Not to mention Jim is awesome! You can't drive by and not pull up to his barbeque. The smell is intoxicating. He is such a nice guy, and makes thee best food!!!! I was so happy to see him out there today! Posted by: Heather at April 11, 2004 12:22 AMPost a review! (Read Posting Guidelines.)
