Reviews!

Went there Friday and had the Summer Ribs... They were the most unique, tasty, falling off the bone ribs I have ever had! My compliments to the chef! My wife and I will be regulary returning to try even more tasty dishes like that. I highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a decent priced meal!

My girl friend and my self have always liked the Pilot house. In Gloucester I find it one of the most reasonably price restaurant in Gloucester. This past Sat (04-26-09) we were even more surprised at the specials menu. I got a scrod casserole with shrimp and scallops, and my girlfriend had the steak tips and clams. Both were very good portions and tasted great. The drink prices were much more reasonable than the over charging being done by other restaurant. I highly recommend this restaurant to locals that may have forgotten, and to visitors to the area who are looking for a great deal and good food.

My family and I were in Gloucester, visiting from Indianapolis, and were looking for an affordable restaurant, with good seafood-we found one in the Pilot House. My daughter and I had the Baked Haddock stuffed with shrimp and scallops, and my husband had the Deep Fried Shrimp. We were all very pleased. The fish was cooked perfectly and the scallops melted in your mouth. Also, our server Sharon was outstanding. She gave us great suggestions when we were ordering, in addition to giving us some interesting facts concerning the atmosphere in the area during filming of the "Perfect Storm." We definitely recommend this restaurant.

Food

Service

Always has been my local favorite for a decent priced meal. I went there just last Friday for lunch with a co-worker, I had the Prime Rib and he had a Clam Plate. Both meals were served promptly and cooked to perfection, but I must brag the the Prime Rib was the tastiest I have ever had...I couldn't stop eating it!
On the other hand, our waitress probably could use a little more training, and the mixed drinks we ordered could use a little more alcohol (they were rather weak for the price).
All in all, I found it to be a good experience and truly will make this a regular luncheon spot!

Went there recently, had the best fried clams for the best price ever, better than in Essex,Server told me they were dug in Ipswich that day and I believed her.Drinks were very resonably priced 5.00 for a big ice cold martini. My waitress was attentive and pleasant. One of our best Wednesday night dinners all summer.

The Ribs I had there were horrible I went there on Friday and they were good went back there on Sunday 6-29 -08 and they were so tough you had to RIP the meat ( tough ) off of the bone . The waitress tried to help by bringing a different half order ( had ordered full rack ) they were just as tough. Went to speak to manager when leaving . Told her of the very disappointing experience believe it or not she turned her back and walked away from me . How very professional would you not say. On my way out I strongly advised all those standing in line for seating to STAY AWAY from the ribs they absolutely SUCK !!

I find the food delicious, we eat there alot because the price is affordable, the staff is always accomodating and service is the best. I recommend this to everyone. Also, the restauant is always clean.

I used to love this place. The prices still are good and the food portions still good. However the last 4 visits the dinner salad has been consistently old lettuce and worn poor quality and the meat orders never come out the way I order them. I also have suspicions regarding the quality of hygeine in the place. I hope they do something about this overall. They are nice people but generally the place borders on depressing. What's needed is a fresh new kick in the butt!!!!

I took my girlfriend there for our first "date". Huge mistake. $40 for two drinks, a burger and some fish. Service was slow, despite extra waitstaff hanging around, talking, by the kitchen. We were one of only three couples in the place. I suspect that they wanted us to load up on the pricey, watered down drinks. Service started picking up when we had to ask for water. Thumbs down. ...........

Hit or miss. I had lunch there the other day, steak tips were quite good for the price. We had dinner there last night, ate at the bar. AWFUL! Had the 3 fish combo all of which was horribly over cooked. Add to that the waitress practically threw the menus at us and grumbled "know what you want?" After the food was practically thrown at us we were ignored until the check came. The waitress complained to other waitress' in the corner and did not once check if everything was OK,, just dumped the check on the table without asking if we wished anything else. We will not return.

Great food at a great price!! I really enjoy their steak tips, french fries (delicious), and chicken fingers. They're all great and really affordable.

Like most from Gloucester, I used to go here every weekend but then started feeling like cattle being herded in and out by some of the waitresses who were annoyed if you wanted another drink after your meal. Also, it's gotten pretty grimy over the last few years. Don't even consider this a dining option anymore.

I found this place to be just average. Food was ok, but nothing special. I had the ribs with pork, and my wife had the ribs with chicken. Each was $10.95, which included salad and fries. The place seems kind of run down inside. The worst part was waiting for my takeout order -- I had to wait in the bar because there are no seats avail for takeout. The bar was so smoky, my wife could smell it as soon as I got home. I had to take a shower to get the smell off. That doesn't necessarily have anything to do with the food, but if you're getting takeout and you're not a smoker, call it in and arrive about 15-20 minutes after your phone call.

You just can't beat Pilot House steak tips or their Jalepeno Poppers. And their mashed potatoes etc. etc. everything is good there !! Try it !

Kids will enjoy the fun round booths !
