  • James Babson Museum ~ Route 127/Main Street, Rockport, MA
    The museum was originally built in 1658 and operated as a cooperage by James Babson.  In addition to the buildings importance as a historical structure, the museum provides an overview of the important trade of barrel making with tools from the era exhibited. The museum is operated under the custody of the Babson Historical Association.

    The museum is open during the months July and August, Tuesday through Sunday, with the hours of 2pm-5pm.  There is no admission fee to the museum.

  • Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center  The Gloucester Maritime Heritage Center is the only working historic waterfront in the Northeast that combines a historic working marine railway, where wooden vessels are hauled and repaired, with a Gulf of Maine aquarium, vessels tracing the fishing history of Gloucester, ongoing construction of wooden boats, and educational exhibits and programs.
