Recipe Card for Thinkin's Scones ~ Breads, rolls, biscuits, muffins

Serves 6

1 3/4 Cups King Arthur White Unbleached Flour
3 Tablespoons Sugar
2 1/2 teaspoons Baking Powder
1/2 teaspoon Salt
5 Tablespoons Butter (keep as cold as possible)
1/2 Cup golden raisins or currants
6 Tablespoons Half-and-Half
1 Egg
1/2 teaspoon vanilla

Measure all dry ingredients then sift together.

Add butter and rub or use pastry blender until it becomes a coarse meal. Add fruit.

Beat egg, vanilla and Half-and-Half together. Using a wooden spoon, stir egg mixture into dry ingredients until all ingredients stick together. Turn onto lightly floured board and knead for about one minute.

Pat dough down to about 1/2 inch thick then cut scones and bake at 400 F. for 10-20 minutes, depending on size. Scones should be firm and a light golden color.

Enjoy!
